Illini Onesie

I've decided that baby Lola* can have an Illini Onesie. After all, we'll need something for the baby to wear when we run out of diapers.

*I've named the baby Lola, because it works if it is a boy or a girl. If it is a girl, then the name Lola is obvious. If it's a boy...just listen to the lyrics - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMsnqQHOwFg.

Week 24 Doctor Visit

The appointment was short and sweet. Everything looks good with Baby K. My doctor said I had gained 4 pounds since my last visit which was pretty good considering the holidays and all the food. I'm measuring 26 inches. She had no problem finding the heart rate. Our favorite thing to do now is watch my belly move when Baby K is moving.

It's been a busy week.

On Sunday, we painted Baby K's room. Bryan does not enjoy painting. I had to tell Baby K to cover his/her ears when we were in the room, especially when he was working on the trim. Now I understand why I usually did most of the painting before.
On Monday, Bryan I registered at Babies "R" Us up in Lombard near Chicago. It was a little overwhelming. Sooooo much baby stuff. It was very tiring but not too stressful. We still have a lot of updating to do on our registry and still have to register at Target. Bryan had lots of fun figuring out what stroller we should get. He would fold them up, unfold them, and attach and detach things. Finally, he settled on a stroller.
On Tuesday, Baby K made his/her first trip to Purdue. We met up with our friends Marnie, Paul and their son Nolan. We walked around campus for a couple of hours, talked and then went out for dinner. The drive home from Purdue was spent listening to the Purdue-Illinois game. Once again I had to tell Baby K to cover his/her ears.

Pictures for Week 21

These pictures were taken two weeks ago on December 14th.

Merry Christmas 2008!

The Best Present in the World

Another Christmas has come and past. It was an exciting one. Our dog Smudge, who is now 7 years old and considered a senior citizen in the dog world, and seems to be going through a mid-life crisis. He was more playful this year than ever when it came to opening his presents. Yes, he does have a stocking. Usually, he just nudges his gifts and we have to unwrap them for him. This year he was CRAZY, digging his head into his stocking and tearing at the paper. He was very entertaining. We also got to see how he would do around a baby over at Bryan's parents'. Our new niece came to Christmas this year. Bella is only 6 weeks old. Smudge just pretty much ignored her. The family exchanged gifts as usual. The best present though came from Baby K. I got to SEE Baby K move for the first time. It was pretty amazing. Baby K was pretty excited and active after opening all the presents at the Kennedy's. By Christmas evening, I was pretty much down for the count and took a nice nap on the couch while Bryan helped his mom clean up the kitchen.

Baby K + KMK?

So Sarah and I driving to Indiana on Friday night, so I can go see the Wooden Tradition (Purdue destroys Davidson, for the record). I'm cycling through my CDs, as I usually do when I'm driving, only to find out that Baby K is most active when I'm playing Kottonmouth Kings.

Baby K just wants to bust out some raps, apparently.

Baby K does Aerobics

I'm finally beginning to know Baby K's sleep pattern. Baby K is most active in the morning on my drive to work and in the evening right after dinner when I'm lying on the couch. During the day, I'm usually too busy with my other 14 children to notice Baby K's activity :)

Sleepless Night

Last night was spent tossing and turning. There was a pretty nasty storm going late into the night with wind gusts up to 40 miles/hour. I think I couldn't sleep because part of me was hoping I would get a snow day so I could spend a day at home. At 3 am, I even went downstairs to check weather.com. Unfortunately, I did not receive a phone call this morning. My commute to work took me an hour and a half. Not horrible, since two weeks ago it took me over 2 hours to get to work after snow. Bryan is finally back home from Las Vegas. He left on the 6th and returned the 13th, Saturday night. It was wonderful to have him home again. He was very happy to be home too. He couldn't believe how much Baby K and I grew during the week he was gone.

Baby K is Due April 21, 2009

I finally got around to starting a blog for Baby K. We will try to update this as often as we can for all of our friends and family. I guess I should go through a short run through of our pregnancy so far since I'm already 4 1/2 months along.

August 8th - first positive pregnancy test
August 9th - second positive pregnancy test (just wanted to be sure :) )
No morning sickness during the first trimester, I was just very tired.
September 9th - we heard Baby K's heartbeat for the first time and had an ultrasound, Baby K's first picture
October 13th - Baby K's second ultrasound, the doctor wanted to check to see if there was a second baby in there
November - I begin to feel Baby K
December 5th - Bryan feels Baby K for the first time
December 8th - Baby K's third photo session, Baby K is growing on schedule and doing very well, I hope the delivery goes as easily as the pregnancy has so far
